How to Reset the World on a Minecraft Server

Start over with a fresh Minecraft world, while keeping your settings, plugins and mods.

Resetting the world gives you a fresh map and keeps everything else: settings, plugins, mods, the whitelist and operators.

Reset it

  1. In Console, click Stop.
  2. Go to Backups and create a backup, in case you want the old world back.
  3. Go to Files and delete the world folders: world, world_nether and world_the_end. (Paper and Vanilla split the dimensions into these three; Fabric, Forge and NeoForge keep them all inside world.)
  4. Want a different seed or world type? Change level-seed or level-type in server.properties now.
  5. Click Start. The server generates a new world.

Tip

Instead of deleting, rename the folder (for example to world_old) or set level-name in server.properties to a new name. You keep the old world on the server and can switch back by changing the name again.

Reset only the Nether or the End

See How to Reset the End and Nether.

Reset everything

To wipe the server back to how it was when you bought it (all files, not just the world), make a backup, then delete everything in Files and reinstall your server software from Package Manager.
