How to Link Minecraft Chat to Discord With DiscordSRV

Show your server's chat in a Discord channel, and let Discord members chat into the game.

DiscordSRV connects your server's chat to a Discord channel, both ways, and can post joins, deaths and server start and stop.

1. Make a Discord bot

  1. Go to the Discord Developer Portal and create a New Application.
  2. Open Bot, and turn on Message Content Intent and Server Members Intent.
  3. Click Reset Token and copy the token. Keep it secret.
  4. Open OAuth2 → URL Generator, tick bot, give it permission to read and send messages, and open the link to add it to your Discord server.

2. Install DiscordSRV

DiscordSRV runs on Paper.

  1. Open Package Manager, click Browse packages, search for DiscordSRV, and install it.
  2. Package changes are queued and applied the next time the server starts, so restart it from Console when you're done.
  3. Stop the server once it has started.

3. Configure it

  1. In Files, open plugins/DiscordSRV/config.yml.
  2. Set BotToken to your bot's token.
  3. In Discord, turn on Developer Mode (User Settings → Advanced), right-click your chat channel and Copy Channel ID.
  4. Set Channels: {"global": "<channel id>"}.
  5. Save and start the server.

Messages now go both ways.

Warning

Anyone with the bot token controls the bot. Don't share config.yml or paste the token anywhere.
