How to Install a Modpack on GDLauncher

Install and play a modpack with the GDLauncher, then join a Beacon server running the same pack.

Install the modpack

  1. Download and install GDLauncher, then sign in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Click Add Instance (the +), then Browse modpacks.
  3. Search for the modpack, open it, and pick a version.
  4. Click Download (or Install). It appears in your library when it's ready.
  5. Click the instance to play.

The first launch takes a while as the launcher downloads the mods.

Tip

Modpacks need more memory than vanilla Minecraft. If the game freezes on loading, give it more RAM in the launcher's settings: see How to Allocate More RAM on Modded Minecraft Launchers.

Playing it on your Beacon server

Everyone needs the same modpack and version as the server. To put the pack on your server:

  1. Open your server and go to Package Manager.
  2. Click Browse packages, filter to modpacks, and search for the pack.
  3. Pick the same version you installed in your launcher and click Install.
  4. Restart the server from Console.

Package Manager installs the server pack, the right mod loader and the right Java version for you.

Join the server

  1. Copy the server address from the Network page in the panel.
  2. Launch the modpack, click Multiplayer, then Add Server.
  3. Paste the address and join.

If you see a "mod mismatch" or "missing mods" message, the versions don't match. Check the modpack version in both the launcher and Package Manager.
