How to Create an API Token
Make an API token to manage your servers from scripts and tools with the Beacon API.
Updated 1 min read
An API token lets scripts and tools manage your servers through the Beacon API: power actions, console commands, files and more.
Create a token
- Log in and open Account → API keys.
- Click New API token.
- Give it a Token name that says what it's for, such as "Discord bot".
- Choose an Expiration, or Never expires.
- Click Create API token.
The token is shown only once. Copy it straight away and keep it somewhere safe, like a password manager.
Use it
Send it in the Authorization header of each request:
Authorization: Bearer <your token>
The page shows an Example request. The full API reference is at API Documentation.
Keep it safe
- Anyone with the token can control your servers. Never paste it in Discord, a screenshot or a public repository.
- Make a separate token for each tool, so you can revoke one without breaking the others.
- Last used on each token shows whether it's still in use. Revoke tokens you don't need.
Note
API calls are rate limited per token. Very fast loops may be refused for a short while.
