I Signed Up With Google and Never Set a Password
If you created your Beacon Hosting account using Google sign-in and never configured a Beacon Hosting password, you can use Forgot password? to create one.
After setting a password, you can manage it normally from the Password card on the Account page.
This is also required if you want to enable certain account security features that require a Beacon Hosting password, such as two-factor authentication.
What Is the Difference Between Changing and Resetting a Password?
Changing your password is for when you can already sign in and know your current password.
You do this from:
Account → Password → Update password
Resetting your password is for when you cannot remember your password or cannot sign in.
You do this from:
Login → Forgot password?
You do not need to contact support for a normal password reset.
What If I No Longer Have Access to My Account Email?
The normal password reset process requires access to the email address associated with your account.
If you no longer have access to that email address, contact Beacon Hosting support by opening a ticket.
Open a Beacon Hosting Support Ticket
You may need to provide information that allows support to verify ownership of the account.
Do not send your existing password or other authentication secrets in a support ticket.
Password Change Troubleshooting
“Passwords don't match”
The New password and Confirm new password fields must contain exactly the same password.
Check for:
- Missing characters
- Extra spaces
- Different capitalization
- Typing errors
My current password is rejected
The Current password field requires your existing Beacon Hosting password.
It is not your 2FA authenticator code.
If you cannot remember your password, use the password reset process instead.
My new password does not meet the requirements
Check that your password contains:
- At least 8 characters
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one number
- At least one special character
- No more than 100 characters
The password strength indicator can also help identify whether your new password meets the requirements.
I did not receive the password reset email
First, check your spam or junk folder.
Make sure you entered the email address associated with your Beacon Hosting account, then request another reset email if necessary.
If you still cannot access the account, contact support.
My password reset link expired
Password reset links are time-limited.
Return to the Forgot password? page and request a new reset link.
Do not continue using an old reset link after requesting a new one.
