How to Create a OneBlock Minecraft Server

Start a OneBlock world, where you stand on a single block that keeps regenerating, with a plugin or datapack.

Updated 1 min read

In OneBlock, every player starts on a single block. Break it and a new one appears, moving through phases from grass to the Nether and the End.

Option 1: a plugin (Paper)

Best for servers with several players, each with their own island.

  1. Make sure your server runs Paper (install it from Package Manager if not).
  2. In Package Manager, click Browse packages, search for BentoBox, and install it. Then install its AOneBlock add-on (from BentoBox's site, uploaded to plugins/BentoBox/addons in Files).
  3. Package changes are queued and applied the next time the server starts, so restart it from Console when you're done.
  4. Players run /ob to create their island.

Option 2: a datapack

Simplest for a small group sharing one block.

  1. Download a OneBlock datapack for your Minecraft version.
  2. Set level-type to a flat or void world in server.properties, as the datapack's page says, then reset the world (see How to Reset the World).
  3. Stop the server, upload the datapack to world/datapacks in Files, and start it.

Option 3: a modpack

Several modpacks are built around OneBlock. Search for "OneBlock" in Package Manager's modpacks.
