How to Set Up Dynmap on a Minecraft Server
Show a live, Google Maps-style map of your world in a browser with Dynmap and an extra port.
Updated 1 min read
Dynmap renders your world into a map you can open in a browser, with players shown live.
1. Add a port for the map
Dynmap runs its own small web server, which needs a port.
- Open Network and click Add Allocation. Note the new port.
2. Install Dynmap
Dynmap works on Paper, Fabric and Forge.
- In Package Manager, click Browse packages, search for Dynmap, and install it.
- Package changes are queued and applied the next time the server starts, so restart it from Console when you're done.
- Stop the server once it has started.
3. Set the port
- In Files, open
plugins/dynmap/configuration.txt(Fabric/Forge:dynmap/configuration.txt). - Find
webserver-portand set it to the port you added. - Save and start the server.
4. Open the map
Go to http://<your server's IP>:<the port> in a browser. Use the IP shown on Network, not a domain name.
The map fills in as players explore. To render everything at once, run:
dynmap fullrender world
This uses a lot of CPU; run it when few players are online.
Tip
BlueMap is a newer alternative with a 3D view. It's set up the same way, with its own port.
