How to Remove a Mod From a Modpack on a Minecraft Server

Take a mod out of your server's modpack safely, and keep players' packs matching.

Remove it

  1. Go to Backups and create a backup. Removing a mod deletes its blocks and items from the world.
  2. If the mod was installed with Package Manager, find it in the installed list and remove it. Otherwise stop the server, open mods in Files, and delete its .jar.
  3. Restart the server from Console.

Check nothing else needs it

Other mods may depend on the one you removed. If the server won't start, Console names the mod that's missing a dependency. Put the mod back, or remove the one that needs it.

Tell your players

Players should remove the mod from their copy of the pack too, or they may be unable to join. Client-only mods (minimaps, shaders) are the exception; they can stay on players' computers.

Warning

Anything made with the mod (blocks, machines, items) disappears from the world when it's removed. Back up first.
