How to Recover Minimap Data in Minecraft

Get your Xaero's or JourneyMap waypoints and explored map back after a server address or name change.

Minimap mods save their maps and waypoints on your computer, named after the server you were on. If the server's address or name changes (moving hosts, adding a domain), the mod starts a fresh map. Your old data is still there; it just needs moving.

Xaero's Minimap and World Map

  1. Open your game folder (in your launcher, open the instance's folder).
  2. Open xaero (newer versions) or XaeroWaypoints and XaeroWorldMap (older versions).
  3. Find the folders for the old server address and the new one. They're named after the address, for example Multiplayer_play.oldhost.com.
  4. Close the game. Copy the contents of the old folder into the new one, replacing files.
  5. Start the game and join.

JourneyMap

  1. Open your game folder, then journeymap/data/mp.
  2. Find the old server's folder and the new one.
  3. Close the game, copy the old folder's contents into the new one, and restart.

Tip

Back up the folders before copying. If the new folder doesn't exist yet, join the server once to create it, then quit and copy.
