Install NeoForge
- Open your server and go to Backups. Create a backup, in case you want to go back.
- Go to Package Manager and click Browse packages.
- Search for NeoForge and open it.
- Pick the Minecraft version you want and click Install.
- The panel shows what will change. Installing server software replaces what is installed, and it may swap the Java runtime to the one that version needs. Confirm.
- Package changes are queued and applied the next time the server starts, so restart it from Console when you're done.
Your world carries over. NeoForge mods go in the mods folder.
What NeoForge is
NeoForge is a fork of Forge, and since Minecraft 1.20.2 most large mods and modpacks use it. NeoForge and Forge mods are not interchangeable on newer versions, so install the loader your mods are made for.
Installing mods
Install NeoForge mods from Package Manager (Browse packages, search, Install). It only offers versions built for NeoForge and your Minecraft version, and adds required mods for you.
Tip
For a modpack, install the modpack itself instead; it sets up NeoForge for you.
