How to Run a Bedrock Preview Version on Your Server
Test the next Bedrock update early with a preview server, and what to know first.
Updated 1 min read
Mojang releases Preview builds of Bedrock Dedicated Server so you can test the next update before it comes out. Players need the Minecraft Preview app to join one.
Warning
Worlds opened on a preview may not load on the release version afterwards. Test on a copy of your world, never your main one.
Install a preview
- Go to Backups and create a backup.
- Go to Package Manager, open Bedrock, and switch the version list to preview builds (the channel filter), if previews are listed.
- Pick the preview and click Install.
- Restart the server from Console.
Join it
Players install Minecraft Preview (a separate app on Windows, Xbox and iOS, or the beta programme on Android), then add the server as usual.
Go back to the release
Install the release version from Package Manager, and restore your pre-preview backup.
