How to Edit Player Data on a Minecraft Server
Change a player's position, inventory or stats by editing their player data file in the panel's NBT editor.
Updated 1 min read
Each player's data (position, inventory, health, experience) is saved in a file named after their UUID, in world/playerdata. The panel can open these files in an NBT editor.
Warning
Create a backup in Backups first. A broken player file can reset that player.
Find the player's file
Files are named after the player's UUID, not their name. To find it:
- run
whitelist add <name>and look atwhitelist.jsonin Files; or - look the name up on a site such as namemc.com.
Edit it
- Make sure the player is offline. The server saves their data when they leave, which would undo your edit. Stopping the server is safest.
- Go to Files and open
world/playerdata. - Click
<uuid>.dat. It opens in the NBT editor. - Use Search NBT tags to find what you need, change it, and save.
- Start the server (if you stopped it) and have the player join.
