How to Cancel a Server
Cancel your Beacon service at the end of the period or straight away, and what happens to your server and files.
You cancel a server from its service page in Billing. Only the account that owns the service can cancel it.
Cancel
- Log in and open Billing → Services.
- Click the service you want to cancel.
- Choose how to cancel:
- Cancel at end of period: the server keeps running until the time you've paid for runs out, then stops. Nothing more is charged.
- Cancel immediately: the service ends now.
- Confirm.
You'll get an email when the service ends.
Tip
Not sure yet? Turn off Automatic renewal on the same page instead. You'll get an invoice to pay each time it's due, and nothing is charged automatically.
What happens to your server
When the service ends, the server stops. Back up anything you want to keep first: go to Backups, create a backup, and download it.
If you change your mind, you can buy the same plan again within 7 days of it ending, and your old server comes back with its files.
Free trials
To end a free trial early, cancel it the same way. If you didn't add a payment method, the trial simply ends when its time is up.
Can't cancel?
- Team members can't cancel. Only the owner of the service can. Ask them, or open a ticket.
- A plan change is scheduled. Cancel the scheduled change first.
