How to Use the Allowlist on a Minecraft Bedrock Server
Only let players you choose join your Bedrock server.
Updated 1 min read
Bedrock calls its whitelist the allowlist. When it's on, only players on the list can join.
Turn it on
- Open your server and go to Files.
- Click
server.propertiesto open it in the Minecraft Server Properties editor. - Use Search for property name... to find the setting.
- Turn on
allow-list. - Save and restart the server from Console.
Add players
Run this in Console, with the player's exact Xbox gamertag. Use quotes if it has spaces:
allowlist add "Steve Gamer"
Other commands:
allowlist remove "Steve Gamer"
allowlist list
allowlist reload
See and remove players in the panel
Open Players in the sidebar. The Allowlist column lists everyone on it, with a Remove button for each.
Things to know
- Gamertags must match exactly, including spaces and capitals.
- The list is saved in
allowlist.json. If you edit that file by hand, runallowlist reload. - Operators aren't let in automatically; add them to the allowlist too.
