## 1. Get the world files

- **A `.mcworld` file:** rename it to `.zip`. That's all; a `.mcworld` is a zip.
- **Your own world on Windows:** in Minecraft, **Edit** the world → **Export World** to save a `.mcworld`, then rename it to `.zip`.

Inside the zip you should see `level.dat`, a `db` folder and `levelname.txt`.

## 2. Upload it

1. In **Console**, click **Stop**.
2. Go to **Backups** and create a backup of the current world.
3. In **Files**, open the `worlds` folder.
4. Create a new folder for your world, for example `My World`, and open it.
5. Upload the zip there and use **Extract here**. `level.dat` and `db` must be directly inside `My World`.
6. Open `server.properties` and set **`level-name`** to the folder's name, exactly (`My World`).
7. Click **Start**.

> [!TIP]
> Uploading many files is faster over SFTP: see [How to Configure an SFTP Client](/knowledgebase/how-to-configure-an-sftp-client-and-manage-server-files-on-a-minecraft-bedrock).

## Behaviour and resource packs

If the world uses add-ons, they come with it in `behavior_packs` and `resource_packs` inside the world folder. To make players download them, turn on `texturepack-required` in `server.properties`.
