## Mods installed with Package Manager

1. Go to **Backups** and create a backup.
2. Open **Package Manager** and find the mod in the installed list.
3. Pick a newer version. Only versions built for your loader and Minecraft version are offered.
4. If the new version needs other mods, the panel installs them too.
5. Package changes are queued and applied the next time the server starts, so restart it from **Console** when you're done.

## Mods added by hand

1. Stop the server in **Console**.
2. In **Files**, delete the old `.jar` from `mods` and upload the new one.
3. Start the server.

## Before you update

- **Everyone needs the same version.** Players must update the mod in their launcher too, or they'll see a mismatch when joining.
- **Read the changelog.** Some updates change world data or configs, and can't be undone without a backup.
- **Don't update a modpack's mods one by one** unless you have a reason; the pack's author tested them together. Update the whole modpack instead.
