**Farsight** lets players keep chunks loaded beyond the server's view distance on their own side, so distant terrain stays visible.

## Install it

Farsight is mainly a **client** mod.

1. **Players:** install Farsight (and Fabric API) in their launcher, for the server's Minecraft version.
2. **Server (optional):** install Farsight from **Package Manager** (**Browse packages**, search **Farsight**, **Install**) if your version's Farsight needs to be on both sides. Package changes are queued and applied the next time the server starts, so restart it from **Console** when you're done.

## The server's view distance

Farsight doesn't make the server send more. The server's `view-distance` in `server.properties` still decides how far it loads and sends. Raising it costs memory and CPU, so increase it a step at a time.

> [!TIP]
> On Fabric, **Distant Horizons** is another way to see far terrain, rendering simplified far chunks on the client.
