# How to Grant OP Permissions on a Minecraft Bedrock Server

Granting OP (operator) permissions on your Minecraft Bedrock server gives players administrative control, such as using commands and managing the server environment. Follow these steps to grant OP access using the Beacon Hosting panel.

---

## Step 1: Open your server

1. Log in at [www.beaconhosting.org/auth/login](https://www.beaconhosting.org/auth/login)
2. Open **Your Servers** and select your Bedrock server

The server must be **online** for console commands and the Players OP button to work.

---

## Option 1: Players page (easiest)

If you see **Players** in the server sidebar, open it.

1. Find the player in the live **Players** list.
2. Click **OP**. The panel sends `op <playername>` for you.
3. Use **DEOP** to remove operator status later.

Use the player’s exact Bedrock name as shown when they join — often their Xbox Gamertag, not a Java username.

The live list only shows players who are currently online. To OP someone who is offline, use **Console** instead.

---

## Option 2: Console command

1. Open **Console**.
2. In the command bar (“Send a command to the server…”), enter:

```
op <playername>
```

Replace `<playername>` with their exact Bedrock name. To remove OP:

```
deop <playername>
```

You need **CONTROL_CONSOLE** permission to send commands.

> **[WARNING]** Only grant OP to trusted players. Operators can run powerful commands on the server.

---

## Enable cheats (if needed)

For in-game commands to work, open **Files** → `server.properties` and set:

```
allow-cheats=true
```

Save the file and restart the server from **Console** if you change this setting.

---

## Verify access

Have the player join and try:

```
/gamemode creative
```

If it works, they have operator access.

---

## Alternative: Edit permissions.json (advanced)

You can also edit `permissions.json` in **Files**, save your changes, then restart the server from **Console** so the server reloads operator permissions.
