## From Console

1. Open your server and go to **Console**.
2. Start the server if it's offline.
3. Type `seed` and press Enter.

The server prints `Seed: [...]`.

## In game

Operators can run `/seed` in chat, then click the number to copy it.

## From the world files

If the server won't start, read the seed from `level.dat`:

1. Open **Files** and go into your world folder (usually `world`).
2. Click **`level.dat`**. It opens in the NBT editor.
3. Use **Search NBT tags** to find `seed`. On 1.16 and newer it's under `WorldGenSettings`; on older versions it's `RandomSeed`.

> [!NOTE]
> `level-seed` in `server.properties` only shows the seed you asked for before the world was made. If it was blank, the world used a random seed, and `seed` is the way to see it.
