Experimental features are set **per world**, not in `server.properties`. The easiest way is to make the world in your own game with them turned on, then upload it.

## Option 1: create the world in game (easiest)

1. In Minecraft on Windows or a phone, click **Create New World**.
2. Under **Experiments**, turn on the toggles you want.
3. Create the world and load it once, then exit.
4. Export it: **Edit** the world → **Export World**. This gives you a `.mcworld` file.
5. Upload it to your server: see [How to Upload a World to a Bedrock Server](/knowledgebase/how-to-upload-a-custom-world-to-a-minecraft-bedrock-server).

## Option 2: edit the world on the server

1. In **Console**, click **Stop**, then create a backup in **Backups**.
2. In **Files**, open `worlds/<your world>/level.dat`. It opens in the NBT editor.
3. Search for `experiments`, and set the toggles you want to `1`.
4. Save and start the server.

> [!WARNING]
> Experiments can change or corrupt a world, and can't always be turned off again. Try them on a copy of your world first.

Behaviour packs that need experiments (for example ones using Beta APIs) usually say which toggle they need.
