An API token lets scripts and tools manage your servers through the Beacon API: power actions, console commands, files and more.

## Create a token

1. Log in and open [Account → API keys](/account/apikey).
2. Click **New API token**.
3. Give it a **Token name** that says what it's for, such as "Discord bot".
4. Choose an **Expiration**, or **Never expires**.
5. Click **Create API token**.

The token is **shown only once**. Copy it straight away and keep it somewhere safe, like a password manager.

## Use it

Send it in the **Authorization header** of each request:

```
Authorization: Bearer <your token>
```

The page shows an **Example request**. The full API reference is at [API Documentation](/api/v1/docs).

## Keep it safe

- Anyone with the token can control your servers. Never paste it in Discord, a screenshot or a public repository.
- Make a separate token for each tool, so you can revoke one without breaking the others.
- **Last used** on each token shows whether it's still in use. **Revoke** tokens you don't need.

> [!NOTE]
> API calls are rate limited per token. Very fast loops may be refused for a short while.
