# How to Change or Reset Your Beacon Hosting Password

Your **Beacon Hosting password** is used to sign in to your account and access the Beacon Hosting panel, including your servers, billing, and account settings.

If you are already signed in and know your current password, you can change it from the **Account** page.

If you cannot remember your password, use the **Forgot password?** option on the login page instead.

> **[INFO]** You must be signed in to change your password from the Account page. If you cannot sign in, use the password reset process below.

## How to Change Your Beacon Hosting Password

### Step 1: Sign In

Sign in to your Beacon Hosting account.

[Beacon Hosting Login](https://www.beaconhosting.org/auth/login)

### Step 2: Open Account

Open **Account** from your profile menu.

You can also open the Account page directly:

[Beacon Hosting Account](https://www.beaconhosting.org/account)

### Step 3: Open the Password Card

Find the **Password** card.

Enter:

* **Current password** — your existing Beacon Hosting password
* **New password** — the password you want to use
* **Confirm new password** — enter the new password again

### Step 4: Update Your Password

Click:

**Update password**

If the change succeeds, you should see:

**Password updated successfully.**

Your new password will be used the next time you sign in.

## Beacon Hosting Password Requirements

Your new password must meet the following requirements:

* At least **8 characters**
* No more than **100 characters**
* At least **one uppercase letter**
* At least **one number**
* At least **one special character**

The **New password** field displays a strength indicator while you type.

The **New password** and **Confirm new password** fields must match exactly.

For better account security, use a password that is unique to Beacon Hosting and is not reused on other websites.

## How to Reset a Forgotten Beacon Hosting Password

If you forgot your current password or cannot sign in, you do **not** need to be signed in to reset it.

Open the Beacon Hosting password reset page:

[Forgot Password](https://www.beaconhosting.org/auth/forgot-password)

Then:

1. Enter the email address associated with your Beacon Hosting account.
2. Complete the required verification.
3. Open the password reset email.
4. Follow the reset link.
5. Choose a new password that meets the password requirements.
6. Sign in using your new password.

If the reset link has expired, return to the Forgot Password page and request a new reset email.

## I Signed Up With Google and Never Set a Password

If you created your Beacon Hosting account using **Google sign-in** and never configured a Beacon Hosting password, you can use **Forgot password?** to create one.

After setting a password, you can manage it normally from the **Password** card on the Account page.

This is also required if you want to enable certain account security features that require a Beacon Hosting password, such as two-factor authentication.

## What Is the Difference Between Changing and Resetting a Password?

**Changing your password** is for when you can already sign in and know your current password.

You do this from:

**Account → Password → Update password**

**Resetting your password** is for when you cannot remember your password or cannot sign in.

You do this from:

**Login → Forgot password?**

You do not need to contact support for a normal password reset.

## What If I No Longer Have Access to My Account Email?

The normal password reset process requires access to the email address associated with your account.

If you no longer have access to that email address, contact Beacon Hosting support by opening a ticket.

[Open a Beacon Hosting Support Ticket](https://www.beaconhosting.org/billing/tickets)

You may need to provide information that allows support to verify ownership of the account.

**Do not send your existing password or other authentication secrets in a support ticket.**

## Password Change Troubleshooting

### “Passwords don't match”

The **New password** and **Confirm new password** fields must contain exactly the same password.

Check for:

* Missing characters
* Extra spaces
* Different capitalization
* Typing errors

### My current password is rejected

The **Current password** field requires your existing Beacon Hosting password.

It is **not** your 2FA authenticator code.

If you cannot remember your password, use the password reset process instead.

### My new password does not meet the requirements

Check that your password contains:

* At least 8 characters
* At least one uppercase letter
* At least one number
* At least one special character
* No more than 100 characters

The password strength indicator can also help identify whether your new password meets the requirements.

### I did not receive the password reset email

First, check your spam or junk folder.

Make sure you entered the email address associated with your Beacon Hosting account, then request another reset email if necessary.

If you still cannot access the account, contact support.

### My password reset link expired

Password reset links are time-limited.

Return to the **Forgot password?** page and request a new reset link.

Do not continue using an old reset link after requesting a new one.

## How to Change Your Password Quickly

If you know your current password:

1. Sign in to Beacon Hosting.
2. Open **Account**.
3. Find the **Password** card.
4. Enter your current password.
5. Enter and confirm your new password.
6. Click **Update password**.

If you forgot your password, use:

[Beacon Hosting Forgot Password](https://www.beaconhosting.org/auth/forgot-password)

You can then create a new password without knowing your old one.
