How to Create a Superflat World on a Minecraft Java Server

This guide provides simple steps to create a superflat world on your Minecraft Java server hosted with Beacon Hosting. Superflat worlds offer a flat landscape ideal for building or creative play modes.

Step 1: Open your server

Log in at www.beaconhosting.org/auth/login, open Your Servers, and select your Minecraft Java server.

Step 2: Back up and stop the server

1. Create a backup from Backups
2. Stop the server from Console

Do this before changing world settings or deleting world files.

Step 3: Set the world type to superflat

1. Go to Files and open server.properties
2. In the Visual Editor, expand World or search for level-type
3. Set level-type to minecraft:flat (or flat)

To customize superflat layers and structures, edit generator-settings in the Advanced section. This field uses JSON generator settings.

4. Save the file

There is no separate “world settings” page in the panel.

Step 4: Remove the old world (required for a new superflat map)

Changing level-type only affects new world generation. To get a fresh superflat world, delete or rename your existing world folder.

1. In Files, open the folder named in level-name (commonly world)
2. Delete that folder, or rename it (for example world_old) if you want to keep a copy

Step 5: Start your server

Start the server from Console. Minecraft will generate a new superflat world on first launch.
