How to Transfer Spigot or Paper Nether/End Worlds to Vanilla

If you are using Beacon Hosting's Spigot or Paper server and want to move your Nether or End worlds to a Vanilla Minecraft server, this guide will walk you through the process. Transferring these worlds requires careful handling to ensure your valuable game progress and builds remain intact.

[WARNING] Always create a backup from Backups in the panel before making changes. Stop both servers before copying or replacing world folders to avoid corruption.

Step 1: Access Your Server Files

Log in, open Your Servers, and select your Spigot or Paper server. Go to Files (or connect with SFTP from Settings → SFTP Access).

By default, Spigot and Paper store dimensions as separate folders in the server root:

  • world — your Overworld
  • world_nether — your Nether world
  • world_the_end — your End world

If your main world folder has a different name, check level-name in server.properties under Files. Nether and End folders are usually named {level-name}_nether and {level-name}_the_end.

Optionally, also copy playerdata and stats from inside your main world folder if you want to preserve player positions, inventory, and achievements.

Step 2: Download the Worlds

In Files, open the folders you need. For large folders, select them and use Compress, then download the archive. Keep the folder structure intact to prevent corruption.

Tip: If you want to preserve player progress, also download playerdata and stats from inside your main world folder.

[INFO] Downloads and SFTP are not available on free trial servers. Use a paid server, or copy worlds after upgrading.

Step 3: Prepare Folders for Vanilla

Vanilla stores dimensions inside the main world folder, not as separate root folders:

  • Rename world_netherDIM-1
  • Rename world_the_endDIM1

If you want player data preserved, copy the playerdata and stats folders from your Spigot/Paper main world into your Vanilla main world folder (whatever level-name is set to — often world).

Step 4: Upload to Your Vanilla Server

Open your Vanilla server in Your Servers, then use Files or SFTP.

  • Upload DIM-1 and DIM1 inside your Vanilla main world folder (for example world/DIM-1 and world/DIM1).
  • Place any playerdata or stats folders inside that same main world folder.
  • Do not place these folders in the server root; they must be inside the main world folder.

Step 5: Restart Your Server

After uploading, restart your Vanilla server from Console. Vanilla will load the Nether and End from the correctly named folders inside your main world.

Step 6: Verify the Transfer

Connect to your Vanilla server and explore the Nether and End. Check that builds, blocks, and player data (if transferred) are intact.

Note: Plugin-specific blocks or entities from Spigot/Paper may not appear correctly in Vanilla, as Vanilla does not support plugin-added content.
