How to Reset Player Data on a Minecraft Server
Resetting player data on your Minecraft server can be necessary to clear inventories, locations, or statistics and provide a fresh start for your players. This guide explains how to reset player data safely on your server hosted with Beacon Hosting.
Step 1: Access Your Server Files
Log into your Beacon Hosting control panel and navigate to your server's File Manager or use FTP to access your server files.
Step 2: Locate the Player Data Folder
Inside your world directory (typically named world
, or your active world name), navigate to:
/world/playerdata
Each file in this folder corresponds to a player’s UUID and contains their inventory, location, and experience data.
Step 3: Back Up Player Data
Important: Before deleting anything, make a backup of the playerdata
folder. You can do this by downloading the folder or creating a ZIP copy via the control panel.
Step 4: Delete Specific or All Player Data Files
To reset a single player:
Delete only the file with that player's UUID (e.g., 0de13b22-8a4c-4e1e-9d8f-c0fbe7c9eafd.dat
).
To reset all players:
Delete every file inside the playerdata
folder.
This removes all inventories, locations, stats, and advancements for affected players.
Step 5: Restart Your Server
After making changes, restart your Minecraft server from the Beacon Hosting control panel to apply the reset.
[WARNING] This action is irreversible without a backup. Make sure you've secured any important player data before deleting files.
