SpongeForge is a hybrid modding platform that runs on top of Forge, allowing you to use both Forge mods and Sponge plugins on the same server. This guide will show you how to install SpongeForge on your Beacon Hosting Minecraft server.
Step 1: Access the Server Panel
- Log in to the Beacon Hosting Game Panel.
- Select your Minecraft server from the list.
Step 2: Stop the Server
Before making any changes:
- Go to your server’s overview page.
- Click Stop to safely shut down the server.
Step 3: Download SpongeForge
- Visit the official SpongeForge downloads page.
- Select a SpongeForge version that matches your current Forge version and Minecraft version.
- Download the
.jar
file.
⚠️ SpongeForge only works with Forge. Be sure you're using a compatible build of both.
Step 4: Upload to the Mods Folder
- Open the File Manager or connect via SFTP.
- Navigate to the
/mods
folder. - Upload the
spongeforge-xxx.jar
file.
If the mods
folder doesn’t exist, create it manually in the root directory.
Step 5: Confirm You’re Running Forge
- Go to Change Server Type in the panel.
- Select the Forge version that matches your SpongeForge download.
- Install or switch if needed.
Step 6: Start the Server
Once everything is in place:
- Return to the overview screen.
- Click Start to launch the server.
SpongeForge will now load along with any installed mods and Sponge plugins.
Troubleshooting
- Check
logs/latest.log
for errors if the server fails to start. - Only use Sponge-compatible plugins (not Bukkit/Spigot).
- Make sure mod/plugin versions match your Minecraft version.
