A step-by-step guide to safely remove a mod from your Minecraft server modpack using Beacon Hosting services.
How to Remove a Mod from a Modpack on a Minecraft Server
Removing a mod from your Minecraft server modpack can help resolve crashes, reduce lag, or clean up unused content. Beacon Hosting makes it simple to do this safely without affecting the rest of your setup.
1. Access Your Server Files
Log into your Beacon Hosting control panel and open the server you want to modify.
You can use the built-in File Manager or connect via FTP (e.g. FileZilla) for more control.
2. Open the mods
Folder
Navigate to the root of your server files and find the mods
directory.
This folder contains all .jar
files for the mods installed on your server.
3. Delete the Mod
Remove the .jar
file(s) related to the mod you want to uninstall.
Double-check the filename to ensure you're only deleting the intended mod.
🧠 Tip: If you're unsure which file belongs to which mod, compare the filename with what you see on CurseForge or Modrinth.
4. Restart Your Server
After deleting the mod, restart your server via the Beacon Hosting control panel.
This will reload the server without the removed mod.
⚠️ Warning: Some mods save data to world files (e.g. blocks, items). If you remove a mod that added custom content, those parts of the world may break or cause errors. Always back up your world beforehand.
